General Principles & Eligibility (Westchester Jewish Basketball League) 1 - Boys and girls are eligible to participate. 2 - At least one parent has to be Jewish. A player should also consider him/herself Jewish in a religious/philosophical sense. Players are not considered to be Jewish if they are affiliated with any other religious denomination. 3 - Preferably, players should belong to a synagogue, attend Hebrew school or day school, or be affiliated with a youth group or other body sponsored by a synagogue. 4 - Players may not be on a senior varsity roster in public or private schools. This rec league exists primarily for the benefit of children who are not participating with organized school teams etc.

Registration/Pre-Registration Procedures (Temple Israel of New Rochelle Youth Committee) 1- Registration is now open for members of Temple Israel. Non-members may also Pre-Register at this time. We strongly encourage you to apply as soon as possible as the date and time stamp of your application may end up determining your status. 2- The Registration/Pre-Registration period closes on October 30. 3- Children of temple members will be considered first and if there are too many children to place on a team, then the date/time stamp on their application will determine priority. 4- If it is determined that a team (grade) needs more players to fill out a roster, after October 30th, we will begin to open registration to those non-members who have already filled out their Pre-Registration forms. Priority will be provided to returning players on an as-need basis. If there are too many such players in any given age group, priority will be based on the date/time stamp of your application. 5- In the event there are additional slots to be filled in any given age group, we will draw from new players whose families are not members where the date/time stamp will be used to break ties. Players will play for their appropriate grade level, if there is a team for that grade. Players will only move about if there is a need to fill out a team, or overflow for a grade. This will be determined once Registration is completed.

When registration opens, preference for roster spots will be accorded temple members, strictly on a first come basis. Should there be interested players beyond the indicated roster size, those players will be placed on a wait list. Should there be sufficient additional players to meet the requirements for a second team (with a minimum of 8 players, maximum of 11), and if an additional coach can be found, a second grade level team may be formed. Please note that some teams have more than one coach. These coaches are volunteers who have expressed an interest in coaching together. Coaching teams will not be split up to facilitate additional grade level teams. A new coach will need to be found to facilitate additional teams.
